🙌 OUR STORY
From Danville to Downtown: The Bay in a Bowl
Thizz Bowl was founded by two guys who missed the flavor and energy of home.
Alex Kim, a tech founder who grew up in the East Bay, and Bernie Olshansky, a lawyer with a lifelong love for Bay Area food and culture, launched Thizz Bowl to bring something different to NYC's salad scene.

No bland greens. No sad dressings. No sterile vibes.
We wanted a spot that was fun, fresh, and undeniably Bay. So we took inspiration from SF's "This Bowl" and combined it with the sounds, slang, and spirit of the Hyphy movement.
We know what the name "Thizz" means—and we don't take it lightly. We're here to pay homage, not to co-opt. Our aim is to bring that Bay Area energy to new people in a way that's tasty, respectful, and real.
"We wanted to create a place that feels like home for Bay Area transplants, while introducing East Coast folks to the flavors and culture we grew up with."
Every ingredient we use is carefully selected for maximum flavor and freshness. Our recipes are inspired by the diverse culinary landscape of the Bay Area, from Oakland to San Francisco to Vallejo.
But Thizz Bowl is more than just food—it's a vibe, a community, and a cultural conversation. We're excited to bring a piece of the Bay to NYC, and we hope you'll join us on this journey.
